Welcome to the blog of the architecture students of Eduardo Mundlane university of Maputo, Boukunde University of Pretoria and the architecture faculty of the TU-Delft in The Netherlands.

This blog is a joint venture organized around the graduation project to Revitalize the Baixa de Maputo.

The Baixa is the oldest part of Maputo and is under current threat of new insensitive development. The old buildings are diminishing and the area is losing its historic identity.

The combination of the three universities is a unique way to create a dialogue between different countries and their ways of working.

The driving force behind the realisation of this studio has been and still is the organization "African Architecture Matters". See the link in the menu below.

Our Mozambique table!

Hi everyone, a little image below to show you our studio space (with flag!). Concerning the working together, it might be a good idea to start off with everyone shortly summarizing what they've been doing the past week, and sending it by email to the rest.

By the way, don't forget to sign yourself in at the blog, so that you can post your own messages. I'll try to send everyone an email inviting you to the blog.

Keep your inbox posted!

Cheers

Literature TU-Delft

In Maputo kick off

Tuesday 21 February the Maputo project had its kick off. The joint venture between Eduardo Mundlane university of Maputo, Boukunde University of Pretoria and TU-Delft began their field research. An introduction to the Baixa de Maputo and the first lecture by Nicholas Clarke and Karel Bakker introduced us to the project.

After a tour in the Baixa groups were formed and everybody began to focus to create a strategy how to revitalize the Baixa de Maputo.
